Sobriety Test Background
A sobriety test is the use of certain methods to determine the presence of certain substances in the body. Law enforcement will usually conduct sobriety tests when a person is suspected of driving while intoxicated.
Hair
In some cases, hair analysis and testing will be administered after a DUI arrest. However, hair testing is usually most effective in terms of long-term alcohol usage. However, in the case of testing for controlled substances, such as cocaine, hair testing may be more appropriate.
Urine
Urine testing is considered to be one of the least expensive methods of sobriety testing and can be used to test for various types of substances. This is why urine testing may be implemented after a DUI arrest, in order to determine if another substance is present aside from alcohol.
